Home page Welcome to the Clint Loomis Fine Art Studio! I hope you will take a few minutes to explore this site and enjoy these images of my paintings and drawings. Much of the work included here reflects my most recent efforts, of the past seven years. You will also find examples stretching back to the 80s. It was at that time that I made my switch from oils to watercolors, inks, opaque watercolors (gouache), and a variety of dry mediums such as pastels and colored pencils.
Moonlight and Cranes My studio is located in Lewistown, the heart of Montana, where a cold, clear spring creek runs through the town and threads the community, the four island mountain ranges and surrounding ranch and wheat lands together. To the north, the harsh beauty of the Missouri Breaks provides a tangible edge and reminds one that vast silent areas still exist. Taken together: my community, the mountains, streams, the land and the eroded folds of the Breaks provides an anchor and acts as a profound catalyst for the work. I have been a studio artist for the past thirty-five years. The work reflects an intense interest in color, spatial arrangement and movement. The materials used include: watercolors, gouache, ink, pastels, colored pencils and charcoal. As you look through these images, you will see that the drawings and paintings offer a rich variety of subject matter to enjoy: landscapes, cityscapes and still life. Some of the most recent work explores the movement of the human figure - specifically those of blues musicians and people dancing. The works do not reflect specific locations but are the result of many hours of poking around looking at landscapes, cityscapes, museums and a love of books and music. These paintings and drawings are the fruits of my imagination. Regardless of the subject matter, it is always my sincere wish to share with you the joy of looking. I welcome you to this gallery of work and hope you enjoy the time spent looking.
